World Affairs for 2015 DECEMBER I

10th December 2015 (jandmayers and ladylydialondon twitter)

“A young woman, who went into labour to have her baby in a remote village in Pakistan, suffered excruciating pain for four days “

“The only help on hand was the neighbourhood Dai or traditional birth attendant”

“The Dai did not have the skills or training to deliver a complicated pregnancy”

“The pain of the birthing mother, became so severe that she became unconscious”

“This ordeal lasting four days after which time the Dai pulled out the remains of what would have been a baby girl”

“As if this ordeal was not enough, it left the woman with chronic incontinence by the damage inflicted to her insides by the Dai”

“In spite of this the Dai told the young woman, Razia, that in a few days she would be fine, but in Razia’s case she just go worse”

“Razia’s condition is known as Obstetric fistula, which is both preventable and treatable”

“That is unless you live in a remote village with no hospital facilities”

“Obstetric fistula is where faeces and urine leak out of the vagina”

“This had been damaged by the mishandling by a Dai, while trying to remove the baby”

“Razia was always filthy & smelt bad. She was despised for her condition by the people & family of her village, who said it was her fault”

“Razia’s only problem was that she was born to a poor family”

“She never had the chance to go to school in spite of her being very bright and intelligent”

“As a teenager she was married to a man she didn’t know”

“She became a young widow when her husband was killed in a road accident when she was six months pregnant”

“The condition Obstetric fistula is little known in Europe & the US where it has been virtually wiped out because of improved obstetric care”

“Around two million women around the world suffer from this devastating condition”

“Many of these women are from sub-Saharan Africa and South Asia”

“Pakistan has one of the worst maternal mortality rates in the region”

“Its public health care suffers from deep-rooted corruption and institutional inefficiencies”

“Because these women are without a voice, nobody cares about them”

“In recent years Pakistan has reported 5,000 new Obstetric fistula patients annually”

“Pakistan’s Dr Siddiqui and his team now serve free fistula treatment centres, which were set up by the UN Population Fund”

“Many more women still go on suffering in shame for years, even decades, not realising that their condition is treatable through surgery”

“These women can actually enjoy a normal healthy life instead of a damaged one!”

“Now they have a President, who has decided to join them in this crusade”

“It has been the social media in Tanzania and across Africa, which has been so effective in singing his praises”

“Magafuli is a breath of fresh air by his impressive measures, which he has already achieved to stamp out corruption on all levels”

“No one is safe anymore!”

“With Magufuli’s seriousness to tackle corruption, he has to make sure he appoints individuals who have competence and credibility”

“This will help him achieve his aims”

“He is a man on a mission and he is determined to take his country out of the clutches of corruption, which has strangled his people”

“Courage on so many levels is out there”

“The people of the world, who seek vengeance in the name of God, are a disruptive force”

“The right questions need to be answered”

“Can we afford to stifle diplomacy and to reject justice in so many ways?”

“Inroads into vast swathes of revenge killings are being addressed”

“Here the people’s courage comes to the fore and a new settlement of peace negotiations becomes possible”

“It is high time that the people’s cries for peace and security in all aspects of life are recognised”

“It is here that a greater deliverance to their requests must be heard”

“No longer can Governments just blindly go in and destroy other countries before asking the right questions”

“How much more harm will this produce?”

“It is the wise men of this world, who hold back and consider all the consequences of their actions before entering into the affray”

“It is the hot-headed naïve politicians, who wish to go into battle without a plan of action that allows success all around”

“We, as the people of this world, must act responsibly and negotiate settlements of peace and wellbeing”

“No longer can this world sustain the kind of unrest it is daily facing”

“The repercussions of war are long-lasting and the destruction to both lives and lands last for decades”

“It is time for Mankind to build bridges and not to destroy them”

“Nobody in war ever learns or wins and the price is always too high”

“There needs to be a strong delegation of wise men with the necessary knowhow and political skills”

“They need to exercise solutions to problems not thought possible before”

“The people of this world demand the wise people to come forward and to put right what hot-headed warmongering people have so far destroyed”

“A young man, Hsar Lar Doe, was born in the countryside of Myanmar (Burma) – his family were farmers”

“His father was killed by soldiers when he was only four years old”

“In 1995, Hsar and his younger brother Kree Kre were taken to a refugee camp by their grandparents”

“Everybody wanted to go to this camp, because of the opportunities they thought would happen”

“Hsar lived at the camp for nearly fifteen years and the camp was controlled by the Thai authorities, who were very strict”

“There was little food there and they were all told to stay in the camp. “It was like being in a cage,” Hsar said”

“There was a school in the camp, but no opportunity for further education or even to work there”

“The United Nations was trying to get the refugees out of the camps by finding countries who would accept them”

“Sometimes the refugees would find that there would be two or three countries who would accept them, so they would also apply to them”

“Hsar applied to the US, as that was the only country which would be willing to take him and his brother at the time”

“He was interviewed by the local government and when asked why he wanted to come to the US, he replied, “Because it is a free country”

“It was democratic and it would give him opportunities that he could not get in Myanmar”

“In the US everybody has the opportunity to study and to work”

“It was also very important that he felt safe, something he could never feel in that refugee camp”

“Hsar found work in a US meat packing plant. He had never seen people kill animals that much before”

“In 2011, a friend of his also from Myanmar was working as a coordinator at The Refugee Response in Cleveland, Ohio”

“The Refugee Response helps refugees by providing them with jobs & assistance.  It helps them to adjust to the new life & the new community”

“It gave Hsar the opportunity to work on a new farm, where vegetables were going to be grown”

“Hsar has now become their site manager and simply loves the work”

6th December 2015 (jandmayers and ladylydialondon twitter)

“Oscar Pistorius legal team are seeing whether they’re able to lodge an appeal after a court ruling found the South African guilty of murder”

“The Supreme Court upgraded the 29 year old’s sentence to murder from culpable homicide”

“This is South Africa’s equivalent of manslaughter for which he received a five year sentence”

“No dates have been set for the verdict, if sentenced the Paralympian could be sent back to prison for at least 15 years”

“Pistorius was released from prison and placed under house arrest in October having spent one day less than a year behind bars”

“This was for the shooting his girlfriend Reeve Steenkamp on Valentine’s Day in 2013”

“Pistorius had hoped to serve the rest of his sentence under house arrest on his uncle’s property in the wealthy suburb of Pretoria”

“Prosecutors agree that Pistorius should have been convicted of murder for firing four shots through a locked toilet door”

“It was stated he intended to kill Steenkamp and that she fled to the toilet during a row”

“Pistorius armed himself with a high calibre weapon and shot though a small toilet cubicle”

“It shows that he must have foreseen that the person might die”

“When a person puts four shots through a door, then the intention is to shoot someone”

“Especially as that person is not attacking Pistorius, this means it is murder”

“The Detective Hilton Botha is a 24 year old veteran police officer”

“He said it did not matter where Reeve was, she would not have stood a chance crouching behind the door”

“Women are killed by their husbands, their boyfriends or their same sex partners every eight hours in South Africa”

“Here “intimate femicide” is the country’s leading cause of violent deaths for women”

“This incident was intentional murder, as no burglar would have locked themselves in a bathroom cubicle”

“It really is time for justice to be seen to be served”

“Pistorius’s unlawful killing of Reeve Steenkamp must be given the full weight of the law”

“For the women of South Africa and around the world whose lives are taken and the perpetrator is given less than a year in prison”

“It makes a mockery of justice for all females caught up in violence against their will!”

5th December 2015 (jandmayers and ladylydialondon twitter)

“The world is not ready for change even though change is happening”

“All peoples of this world must look to their needs and aspirations”

“So that law and order can be maintained to secure long term security”

“We are all in a state of chaos and uncertainty”

“All now is being pushed back, so that a more secure direct purpose is established to bring back security and wellbeing to this world”

“The earth groans under the force of destruction laid upon it”

“The earth is a living being globe of energy and this is being systematically eroded”

“This is because of Mankind’s insensitivity to its delicate balance of nature”

“Until Mankind recognises his own hand in its destruction, he does not deserve to live anymore on the fruits of its produce”

“We, as the Spiritual Intelligence, are putting matters right by curbing Man’s power and greed for destructive methods”

“All is a battle of which Mankind will be forced to live in perpetual darkness if change is not accepted by him”

“It is now that global changes & large institutions will continue to fall & be dissipated until the new format of correctness comes about”

“No longer will Mankind have the upper hand, as its destruction has already seen much famine and global consequences”

“It is the Higher Intelligences, which are intervening to put matters right, where Mankind has so ignorantly ignored them”

“The world powers are coming under scrutiny and will be judged one by one until their circumstances change”

“These changes will be so dramatic that they will be brought to heel”

“No power can sustain this Intelligence and so they will be all brought to their knees in time”

“This will create a new world order, the likes of which has never been seen before”

“Keep faith all those who love God and know all will be saved in his love and decency of the Spirit!”

4th December 2015 (jandmayers and ladylydialondon twitter)

“The USA does not need to go to war with the rest of the world as they have their own home grown war at home”

“Another massacre, this one was at San Bernardino in California, where 14 people were killed & 17 people injured, a normal day in America!”

“At this rate as the violence increases, so wars between states will be the next thing on the agenda”

“America has a pattern of violence in the way of shooting that has not been seen anywhere else in the world”

“So far this year 2015, a total of 462 people have been killed and 1,314 others wounded”

“The US has less than 5% of the world’s population; about 31% of mass shootings worldwide take place in this country”

“In a 2007 study of 178 countries, the USA ranked first in the number of civilians who owned guns at a rate of 88.8 firearms per 100 people”

“Mental illness plays a strong part in creating these atrocities, where the person feels rejected by society”

“Something with which millions of American young people suffer”

“It must be made clear that even though shooters are generally mentally ill”

“The mentally ill do not develop into shooters at a disproportionate level”

“The US has very lax gun laws”

“The National Rifle Association’s lobbies have very powerful ties with the Republican officials and Democrats from the country’s south”

“What is such a disgrace for the American people is that the NRA spends copious amounts of money to keep their politicians in line”

“It has to be public opinion alone, which will allow for things to change”

“The public must press for no guns in their towns and states”

“Then the public momentum will gather strength and politicians will have to come around”

“It is only the people who must speak, so that change becomes possible”

“Mental illness needs to be addressed and America’s young people should be listened to more, so that they can be supported in a better way”

“The American people owe it to the young to safeguard their futures”

“No politician will do that, as they are only interested in their own agendas”

“How many more deaths must occur before mass demonstrations against guns starts to take hold and the people are finally listened to?”

“Politicians won’t do it, as the gun lobby holds a gun to their heads”

“It is for the people themselves to demand change, if they wish safety in their country!”

3rd December 2015 (jandmayers and ladylydialondon twitter)

“An Indian man invented a simple machine for the poor rural women to make simple sanitary pads”

“His idea was to provide jobs for some and hygiene for millions, often for the first time”

“This event motivated a British woman called Amy Peake”

“She made it her mission in life to help those refugee women in camps to be able to deal with their monthly periods”

“Amy Peake had gone out to India on a fact finding mission to find out how these pads were made”

“This mission of hers came about while she was waiting in her doctor’s waiting room”

“She saw an image in a magazine that showed thousands of refugees queuing up for food in a bombed street in Damascus”

“In the foreground stood a woman and for a brief moment Amy associated herself with that woman”

“She asked, “What would happen if while queuing she got her period?”

“A remarkable coincidence happened when she got home. Her husband showed her a story”

“It was about Arunachalam Murugananthan, the India man who invented the machine to produce cheap and hygienic sanitary pads”

“Murugananthan realised that his wife and other Indian women used rags”

“Murugananthan didn’t want to sell the pads, he wanted women to make and sell their own”

“His aim was to create a million jobs for the poor rural women in India”

“Then he would expand to others countries in the world, where sanitary pads are unavailable”

“Amy Peake said this machine should be in every refugee camp and she calls her project ‘Loving Humanity’”

“Amy approached many of the big humanitarian agencies, who did not return her calls, so after six months she decided to take up the cause”

“With some backing she got on a plane to Jordan, which is home to a million Syrian refugees”

“She met up with the volunteers at the largest camp Zaatari”

“Peake found that the organisers had no time for her plan, so she had to do it all herself”

“Amy Peake learnt how to use the machine, which takes fifteen minutes to process the sanitary pad”

“Amy compresses the wood pulp in the grinder; the fluffy material is shaped in a mould and wrapped in antibacterial fabric”

“It is placed under a UV light for thirty seconds to disinfect it and then it is ready for use”

“It really is that simple and Amy Peake could picture her own factory in the Zaatari camp”

“It is the simple things in life that women need as a necessity”

“It makes such an outstanding difference to their wellbeing as citizens in this world”

“It is the male ignorance that creates so much hardship towards women and this vital service should be their automatic human right!”

“The Government has tried to introduce reforms to improve the living conditions”

“Some of their prisons are the most violent and overcrowded in Latin America”

“Venezuela’s General Penitentiary (PGV) in the State of Guárico should hold no more than 750 prisoners”

“But at the time of this report there were 3,000 inmates”

“Neyda Rojas belongs to the Mercedarian Order of Nuns”

“She helps to teach the inmates some of the basics of life, like literacy”

“She says, “I’m very happy when they learn to read and write. I can see their excitement”

“It also means they can understand what official documents say about them and their trials”

“The 52 year old nun said, “I have always seen the face of God in their faces”

“They will never do anything against me, in fact they protect me”

“Sister Neyda serves these inmates every day with love, for many of them have been abandoned, but they have her!”

“Sister Neyda is the voice of men, who have no voice”

“She is the lone crusader, who works tirelessly to get results for them and nobody is left out”

“Her unstinting care and devotion towards these inmates has awarded her much respect and a certain love towards another human being”

“All recognise her unique qualities and her life changing ways”

“The disgrace of the Lawn Tennis Association is not doing our young tennis players any favours”

“Andy Murray has accused the Lawn Tennis Association of failing to build on his success”

“The Lawn Tennis Association (LTA) is a waste time, as they never get anything done!”

“Andy Murray states that he doesn’t know where the next generation of young tennis players are coming from after him”

“The LTA need to act now and positive changes need to be made to create the British tennis players for the future”

“The LTA don’t coach any players now! The sum of £25m has gone into junior programmes, which have not worked because there are no juniors”

“There are now no junior number ones or juniors competing for Grand Slams. It is just not happening”

“Team GB have handed over the Davis Cup trophy”

“They have also handed them the truth that the LTA are nothing but a waste of time, because nothing gets done!”

“The British Davis Cup team turned the spotlight from themselves onto the highly paid suits and strategists that do nothing”

“They just bask in their own glow of achievement earned by Smith and the intrepid team”

“It is these LTA strategists and highly paid suits, who do not deserve their positions as they waste the annual Wimbledon windfall”

“Andy Murray and Leon Smith both state that the status quo in British tennis is not good enough”

“The scarcity of British youngsters at the junior levels in major tournaments is an embarrassment to British tennis”

“Kyle Edmunds is 20 years old and he is based at Roehampton”

“He is the last player to come through the Lawn Tennis Association coaching system that has now been dismantled”

“He is critical that he does not have anyone to hit with at the lavish National Tennis Centre, which was opened in 2007 for £40m”

“Andy Murray went himself to Roehampton to knock up after the Chinese tournament only to find it was completely empty, not a soul in sight”

“All of Murray’s Olympic, US Open and Wimbledon titles have been achieved despite British tennis”

“He has done all this on his own back without any help from the British Tennis system”

“The LTA continue to fail its youngsters and is a sham operation and should be disbanded”

“It is Murray’s brilliance that strips the LTA of its familiar excuses”

“It compels them to come up with a system instead of tearing up previous plans to justify their huge salaries”

“It is time that new enforcement issues were issued to give young British tennis players a future in this magnificent sport”
